STEM Fuse offers a Zero to CS Hero course designed for Ohio teachers to pass the OAE Computer Science Test. Ohio is really looking for more and more teachers to be knowledgeable in computer science, and the STEM Fuse PD may be a good 1st option for teachers as it is only 15 hours of instruction that they finish in 5 weeks and they don’t have to purchase outside textbooks etc. (Everything is included in the course) Not to mention that for Ohio teachers, the cost is only $500 per teacher.
The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) honors 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, or non-binary students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans. Since 2007, more than 20,000 students have received an Award for AiC.
The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Educator Award identifies exemplary formal and informal educators who play a pivotal role in encouraging 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, or non-binary students to explore their interest in computing and technology. Rather than being a teaching award, this award honors those who work inside and/or outside of classroom spaces to advocate for gender equity in computing by providing educational opportunities that are inclusive to--and supportive of-- women, genderqueer, and non-binary students. The award recognizes these educators for their efforts to promote gender equity in computing. Since 2011, more than 1,000 educators have been recognized and have received more than $225,000 in professional development funding to improve their computing education skills.
More than 10 CSTA Chapters have joined forces to host the Midwest is Best CSEd Virtual Unconference Sat. Oct. 15, 2022, on Hopin, with the theme of CS Across the K-12 Curriculum!
